Tārraga

  • Park of Sant Eloi, Tārrega

The park of Sant Eloi is an emblem of the city of Tárrega, capital of Urgell. It was constructed in the beginnings of the XX century by the Asociaciķn de Amigos del Árbol (Friend of the Tree Association).
By the time, the park of Sant Eloi became a big park with beautiful paths surrounded by pines, oaks and olive trees, that offers interesting proposals to the visitors
We find places where stands out the classic beauty of the Latin garden; spots of romantic style, where the man's labour is hidden in the nature; paths that go down the mountain, and an outdoor museum that shows the traditional industry and agriculture of the zone.
In the same park we also find a hermitage of the XIII century that honours Sant Eloi, the patron of the goldsmiths that gives his name to the park.
On the other side, from the watch points of the mountain range -antique towers built during the Guerras Carlinas of the past century- one can see an attractive view of the landscape of Tārrega: The Siglo XX street, with the modernist building of Cal Maimķ that has neo-gothic ornaments on its faįade, and the Farinera Balcells, a building of the twenties that is a clear representative of the modernist industrial architecture.

  • Guided Visits to the City

The city of Tārrega offers, besides the park of Sant Eloi, a great variety of attractive proposals: for example, to visit the medieval and Jewish Tārrega by taking a walk in the narrow passages of the antique medieval centre, the Jewish district and various monuments.

  • Region of Urgell Museum

The permanent exhibition of this museum is arranged in three different sets: the archaeology rooms, where the Iberian world is explained along with the first arrival of the Romans to these lands; the noble rooms, with the furniture from the XVII century up to the XIX century, where the furniture granted by the family of the writer Manuel de Pedrolo is of special interest; and the room of the medieval and modern Tārrega, where architectural elements and sculptures from that period are on exhibition.
